 RE: Route 202 – Section 300 Noise Abatement  

Dear Mr. Warren:  

Enclosed are 270 petition letters from residents of the Great Valley requesting your support for the construction of an asphalt road and proper sound barriers along Section 300 of the forthcoming Route 202 expansion. These residents are members of the Great Valley Association representing over 600 families and approximately 2600 people in the western section of Tredyffrin Township.

 We believe it is important for you and our elected officials to understand the depth of feeling about the unacceptable noise level, which Route 202 presently generates, and the fear of the residents that more concrete and no sound barrier will only make matters worse.  As you know from our meetings in the past, the Great Valley Association supports the expansion but that support is based upon proper and effective noise abatement.  We believe this objective is best served with the construction of a full depth asphalt road and sound walls starting from the intersection of Route 202 and Swedesford Road up to the area of the Great Valley Corporate Center at Route 29.

 We understand that the results of your sound study will be presented shortly.  We believe that these results should be tempered with the quality of life concerns of the residents of the Great Valley. It is they who are going to live with the decisions made concerning the construction of this portion of the highway. Further, we believe that what we have proposed will not only deliver the greatest noise abatement benefit, but the greatest economic benefit as well, since asphalt is the less costly alternative.

 We look forward to your favorable consideration of our proposal.
