Board minutes December 13,2005

The meeting was called to order at 7:40. Those in attendance were John Coffin, Bob Graeff, Lou Erdelan, Bob Copel, Jane Charpentier, Albert Charpentier, and Polly Hagan.

The minutes of the December meeting and the treasurer’s report were accepted. (Check to make sure the attendance is right.)

Items for discussion

·        Carole Rubley took a liberal approach to the sound barriers.

·        Turnpike -Joe Piernock is doing a geological study of the Great Valley to use as part of the support for the need for sound barriers on major roads like the Turnpike and Route 202. One of the suggestions may be the use of staggered sound walls throughout the area where noise levels are elevated. New Jersey uses a kind of sound barrier that goes over the sound wall. The ideal situation would be to reduce the sound levels from 70 to 50 decibels.

·        Route 202 – The results of the sound study done by PennDOT and the informal study done by residents of Pineview and Jonathan Drives, show a reasonable difference of 6 to 7 decibels. Albert sent a letter to PennDOT with our concerns over these differences. PennDOT responded that they will stand by their readings. Concerned residents of the affected area will gather at Charpentiers on the 20th at 7:30 to discuss options. They will start a subcommittee to work on getting higher sound walls. Lou Erdelan volunteered to help that committee.

·        North Valley and Swedesford intersection - Joe Calabi and Carol Clark will reconvene the group after the New Year.

·        Zoning – There is still a question as to whether the property at Georgetown Drive can be subdivided as is being advertised.

·        Church Road – A letter has been sent to the 34 residents who are allowed to vote for the proposed change to the Church Road covenant in order to allow a restructuring of the Liberty Property Trust access to their property from Church Road. The question is very involved and has gone to court and been decided in favor of the Church Road residents who do not want to see an increase to traffic on this rural road.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:40.

Respectfully submitted,

Polly Hagan
